One year already since my last post... I am still here and I am still making beads but I have moved house and it has taken a lot of my time recently.</div><br />We do not leave in Aberdeen anymore, we have left our 'Millbank cottage' for a house in the countryside. We now live in the charming little village of Daviot in Aberdeenshire.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Scottish Bead Fair in Glasgow</span><br /><br />My workshop is all installed and I have been making beads again for the past few weeks in preparation for the <a href="http://www.scottishbeadfair.com/">Scottish Bead Fair</a> in Glasgow which I will be attending on the 20th of November. Please come and say hello to me if you are planning to attend.<br /><br />I have been concentrating on Galaxy beads (which are some of my favourite type of beads to make) and I think that I have come up with some tasty glass combinations (even if I say so myself). I will have other kind of beads as well.<br /><br />Unfortunately, I do not have any beads pictures to show you as my photo equipment is still packed up in a box somewhere in the house, but I am not too sure where.<br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Christmas fair, Gallery i, Constitution Street, Inverurie</span><br /><br />On the 26th of November, I will be attending another fun event in Inverurie: a Christmas fair<br />together with the ladies of a nice group called Monday motivation that I have joined since moving house.<br />This should be a fun and festive shopping experience including lampwork glass beads (made by me), ceramic greek beads, all kind of holistic therapies, cakes ...and much more...<br /><br />It will take place from 10am to 4 pm at Gallery i, Constitution street, Inverurie.<br /><br />Please come and see us if you live locally and <a href="http://www.blogger.com/millbank.cottage@dsl.pipex.com">email me</a> if you require more information.<br /><br /><br />Then, at long last I will update my neglected website with new beads and I will inform you when this has been done if you are in my mailing list.<br /><br />This is it for this post, I will update my blog again soon with pictures.<br /><br />Bye<br /><br />AnnelyseCrescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-54623265444521261892010-11-05T12:17:00.000-07:002010-11-05T12:37:30.312-07:00Mes nouvelles perles...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5148158405_6476978581.jpg"><br /></a>On my website on Monday, there will be:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1352/5148750646_a495f36c3e.jpg"><br /></a><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1248/5148219731_3b21b682d9.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 431px; height: 225px;" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1248/5148219731_3b21b682d9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1352/5148750646_a495f36c3e.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 437px; height: 309px;" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1352/5148750646_a495f36c3e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/5148766104_c09517fb74.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 459px; height: 345px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/5148766104_c09517fb74.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5148158405_6476978581.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 467px; height: 379px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5148158405_6476978581.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/5148217013_732363ce21.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 472px; height: 300px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/5148217013_732363ce21.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5148793725_7726b40705.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 478px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5148793725_7726b40705.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-78090248886882049832010-09-27T05:05:00.000-07:002010-09-27T06:31:38.973-07:00What I have been up to...I have been quiet for a while with no blog updates and not many updates to my website either.<br />I have a very good excuse...We got a puppy...! We have had him for nearly 4 weeks now and he has kept us quite busy..<br /><br />He is a lovely, clever little dog. His name is Nougat (Pronounced the french way: Noo-gah), he is really my kids doggie but he is also a great bead making companion for me, sleeping on his back in a basket while I am making beads during the day.<br /><br />Here is a picture of him (stealing my beads!) a couple of weeks ago (Sorry if you have already seen this picture on Flickr).<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/4974078370_2e3e0fa2f1_m.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 228px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/4974078370_2e3e0fa2f1_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />I have also been making a few beads, making old favourite style such as the galaxy beads:<br /><br /><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5029128117_470bf8eefa_m.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 234px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/5029128117_470bf8eefa_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/5029127677_8bdeea1184_m.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 134px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/5029127677_8bdeea1184_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I have also been experimenting with new designs and ideas...<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5029771764_ffab760d89_m.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 239px; height: 240px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5029771764_ffab760d89_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">and....I have managed a button which I am proud of. I wanted to make something for her but she does not seem to be wearing very much jewellery...so I decided to make a suncatcher for her with some of my beads.<br /><br /><br />Below are a few pictures that I took yesterday (I did watch for the magpie!)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/4742907916_613d3b51a6_z.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 183px; height: 640px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/4742907916_613d3b51a6_z.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4742907504_a96c265318.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 421px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4742907504_a96c265318.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-23983778546928188162010-06-11T02:09:00.001-07:002010-06-11T05:27:23.647-07:00Stourbridge no more and tonnes of beads for sale on my website!I have had to cancel my attendance at the Stourbridge Bead Fair!<br /><br />I have mixed feelings about this! Most are destined to the<a href="http://www.stourbridgebeadfair.co.uk/"> Stourbridge bead fair</a> in August. A few of them have been inspired by my recent class with Andrea Guarino.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1085/4611969554_0a9d4aa5f7.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 429px; height: 432px;" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1085/4611969554_0a9d4aa5f7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3409/4611949866_b594fe87c4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 427px; height: 336px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3409/4611949866_b594fe87c4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3399/4611980496_8d58455c6c.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 425px; height: 306px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3399/4611980496_8d58455c6c.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3379/4611360743_390e6ffe72.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 429px; height: 206px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3379/4611360743_390e6ffe72.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/4611361701_c9cb1b418a.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 436px; height: 290px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/4611361701_c9cb1b418a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-40335908700446761512010-05-03T08:36:00.000-07:002010-05-04T00:49:26.388-07:00Wow...What a week!!! Andrea was a brilliant, funny and generous teacher and her beads are magic. They have got secrets all to do with glass alchemy and reactions and I had a lot of 'Oooh Aaaaah!' moments during the two days course.<br /><br />The fact that the group of beadmakers (many of whom I had never met before) were a lovely, friendly bunch also contributed to the success of this escape.<br /><br />I learned a lot, laughed a lot, ate a lot.<br /><br />I came back home on the train on Thursday, refreshed, buzzing with new ideas wondering how 2 days can pass so quickly.<br /><br />I cannot wait until my next yearly escape (which might be before next year!)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9DDjyzD-BBRk5YV-KgmZRJA3kwQq7GZZrR1WnxykXmTGaeh92CBspDc7X6-W4tbQnZcXSdDDSx7y3XN8MeaOXpNppi_XOB79oywkLN9E0XVtzhyphenhyphenqJZ0pXC7nePnDRCwNwTk6iZDu63Hk/s1600/AndreasClass.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9DDjyzD-BBRk5YV-KgmZRJA3kwQq7GZZrR1WnxykXmTGaeh92CBspDc7X6-W4tbQnZcXSdDDSx7y3XN8MeaOXpNppi_XOB79oywkLN9E0XVtzhyphenhyphenqJZ0pXC7nePnDRCwNwTk6iZDu63Hk/s320/AndreasClass.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467300428301835362" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:85%;">Photo by <a href="http://www.andreaguarino.com/">Andrea Guarino</a></span><br /></div>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-24485104465732588102010-04-23T05:16:00.000-07:002010-04-23T05:42:17.546-07:00Stourbridge in August and prize draw.Busy, busy, busy!<br /><br />I am trying to build up a good stock for the <a href="http://www.stourbridgebeadfair.co.uk/">Stourbridge bead fair</a> where I will be selling my beads on 28th and 29th of August.<br /><br />I know that it looks as if there is still a lot of time until the end of August but 6 weeks of this time will be spent in France in the summer (just before the fair) and I don't have any beadmaking equipment there.<br /><br />I am very much looking to this event and please come and say hello if you are around.<br /><br /><br />I am having a prize draw.<br /><br />The prize is this set of beads:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4052/4528557910_3f262282e2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 404px; height: 201px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4052/4528557910_3f262282e2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Let me know if you would like a chance to win them by leaving a comment or sending me an email (millbank.cottageATdsl.pipex.com) before the 31st May.<br /></div></div>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-26771982143379753612010-04-09T04:55:00.000-07:002010-04-09T10:37:25.317-07:00Kids, life and TireeIt has been a very long time since my last post (I know I begin nearly each post with the same sentence).<br /><br />Life has been eventful in the past few months, my little boy has had an operation (to have his tonsils removed), we are busy getting our house ready for sale (we would like to move out of the town centre or in my dreams to France but it is not likely), and a long time friend of mine died.<br /><br />This latest sad event took us to Tiree last week, a beautiful, peaceful and luminous little island off the West Coast of Scotland.<br />We went on the ferry in Oban on Tuesday, the weather was wild and the 3-4 hours journey through the sound of Mull, down to the island of Coll and then Tiree was very bumpy. The boat did not manage to dock in Coll because of the strong winds and snapped a rope.<br /><br />The sea was blue and turquoise as ever despite the rough weather and I wonder if there is ever a dull day weather wise on this island. It is often referred to as the 'land beneath the waves' (it is very flat) and I think the weather is either stormy or sunny as there are no real hills capable of stopping the clouds and the wind.<br /><br />The last day ,Thurday, was sunny and we spent most of our time on the little beaches of the island waiting for our ferry to take us back to Oban at 5.00 o'clock. These are some of the pictures I took.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4484755552_e72fa48b6c.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 333px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4484755552_e72fa48b6c.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4058/4484713602_c161c6eed6.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 333px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4058/4484713602_c161c6eed6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4484742178_780996abda.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 333px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4484742178_780996abda.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/4489712586_b5fcb8f571.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 322px;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/4489712586_b5fcb8f571.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I hope that life is now going to take a steadier pace and that I am going to be able to spend a little bit more time on my torch.<br /><br />I had a look through my stash of Bullseye glass yesterday (washed it because it was very dusty). I have had this high quality glass for ages but I have never really used it. The colours are beautiful and a lot of ideas are now brewing in my head, so hopefully I will have some nice beads to show you soon.<br /><br />Until my next post...<br /><br /><br /></div></div><br /><br /></div>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-71467908403958061782010-02-08T10:36:00.000-08:002010-02-08T10:50:18.839-08:00The collective auctionLong time, no posts...!!! and I don't have any valid excuse. Nothing new really...mostly making beads.<br /><br />I am enjoying making sea themed beads at the moment and particularly these type of beads below. I call them coast bead, not a very original name (I know at least a dozen of bead makers who make beads called 'Coast' beads) but I could not manage to think of another name as these were very much inspired by the 'Coast' program which shows beautiful aerial coastal views.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/4115571618_76a75cd50a.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 334px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/4115571618_76a75cd50a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>I have also been experimenting with and developing some new designs that involve stringer control and precise dot placements. I have nothing worth showing at the moment but I am hoping to have some beads in the near future that combine organic (which I love) and more structured features.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Prize draw:</span><br /><br />I am organizing a prize draw. The prize is this bead:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2607/4147049895_0152f24510.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 486px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2607/4147049895_0152f24510.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This bead was meant to be a pressed rockpool focal bead. Unfortunately, the bead release on my mandrel broke (the bead release is like a clay product that you put on the stainless steel rod (the mandrel) to stop the glass sticking to it). This usually means that the bead is doomed as it spins freely on the mandrel and you completely lose control of a big bit of molten glass.<br /><br />I was not happy!!! I had spent an hour to get to this point, so I decided to not ditch it in my water jar (the water makes it explode in thousands of little bits which can be quite soothing in this kind of situation :-) ).<br /><br />Instead, I decided to stick it in the kiln and give it to my little girl who inherits all my failed beads for her 'collection', gave up making beads for the day and ordered some heavy duty bead release to stop this problem happening again.<br /><br />I opened the kiln the next day and found a rockpool bead that actually looked like a rock. It was a pleasure as usual to speak to so many people who share my interest in beads and jewellery.<br /><br />The fair is over now and once I have tidyed up my house (which looks like a bombsite at the moment) I will look forward to a little bit of time-off after an extremely busy month of August.<br /><br />My website will be updated shortly with new beads, plus the nice beads I forgot to take at the bead fair and I will try to add new beads to it on a more regular basis.<br /><br />Thanks to everybody who stopped to chat and especially to everybody who purchased my handmade lampwork beads.<br /><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="EmailStyle18"><span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:navy;" ><span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:10;" lang="EN-US"><br /><o:p></o:p></span></span></span></p>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-77742171799440203392009-08-25T12:38:00.000-07:002009-08-25T13:05:22.980-07:00A very quick post...I am still here ...just very busy preparing for the Scottish Bead Fair in Perth on Sunday and doing some very interesting things like going to a class with Claudia Trimbur-Pagel who I think is one of the best and most creative glass artist in the world. (Check her <a href="http://www.glasting.com/">website </a>here to see her beautiful beads).<br /><br />I had a fantastic time...nice studio, wonderful teacher and very lovely people. The class was in Dublin at <a href="http://www.cadenzaglassbeads.com/index.html">Cadenza studio</a>.<br /><br />Here are some pictures of beads I have made for the bead fair on Sunday.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2590/3856501520_d635836fbb.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 326px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2590/3856501520_d635836fbb.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2480/3855709659_1b076214ee.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 318px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2480/3855709659_1b076214ee.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2608/3855716769_af4ee90202.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 417px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2608/3855716769_af4ee90202.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Crescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-67272470909257865612009-07-28T09:59:00.000-07:002009-07-28T10:28:05.655-07:00Holidays are over - Les vacances sont finiesIt has been one month already and we are preparing our suitcases to return to Scotland on Thursday for a very busy but exciting month of August.<br /><br />I will be an exhibitor at the<a href="http://www.scottishbeadfair.com/"> Scottish Bead Fair</a> in Perth on the 30th of August. I do not have very many beads at the moment, so I am going to have to have to torch very hard to build up my stock and keep my website and etsy shop going at the same time. That is on top of my other occupation which consists of writing databases (I much prefer making beads).<br /><br />On the 26th of August, I am going to Dublin to attend a week-end class with the very talented and unique <a href="http://www.glasting.com/">Claudia Trimbur-Pagel</a>. I am very excited about this class and I cannot wait.<br /><br />I will also have to entertain Téo and Juliette (my two kiddies) until the 18th of August when school starts again.<br />Juliette will start her first year in primary school.<br /><br />Finally, there is also the fact that we have started a few DIY projects in our house which is in total chaos at the moment, but I guess this is not a priority and tidying up can wait for a little while. I am definitely not a domestic godess! :-DCrescendo Chocolatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16255406734113704175noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369263708761990470.post-39196113688094913932009-07-19T07:34:00.000-07:002009-07-20T11:28:25.664-07:00Promenade dans le jardin - A walk in the garden<div align="left">Mes parents sont des amateurs de jardinage.
